Contacts, Networks, Careers.

The initiation of working contacts is necessary and useful at the latest when starting a postdoc: for visibility within the scientific community or in one's own field. The Graduate Academy supports postdocs during this transition, but also in subsequent work phases, as networking is still extremely important three, five, or six years after the doctorate.

With the help of the "Contacts, Networks, Career" funding line, postdocs can establish and expand sustainable professional contacts up to twice a year and thus strategically prepare for their future careers. In this way, the programme primarily promotes career development and planning within academia, which is jointly determined in a consultation. The amount of the respective flat rate depends on the purpose of the short trip. The following rates apply:

• Germany: 250 euros
• Europe: 500 euros
• outside Europe: 1000 euros

The trips should be related to the next career steps and a well-founded contact initiation.

All postdocs at Leibniz University are eligible to apply. In the application process, we consider and evaluate the curriculum vitae (CV) and the background of the applicant, the adaption of the contact and network design into the CV, the selection of contact partners and how the necessity for the networking trip is described. Applications can be submitted at any time to the Graduate Academy. Nonetheless, a first interview (via phone or in person) has to precede. Feel free to contact our person in charge!

Please note that the funding line is currently being revised. Applications for contact trips taking place before March 31 can be decided upon in the first quarter. Applications for contact trips taking place from April 1st onwards will only be prepared and considered for decision after the application deadline on March 31.
