Organizations for the Promotion of Young Talent
The organizations for the promotion of young talent gear their funding to the funding guidelines (PDF, GER) of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Currently, Ph.D. candidates are funded with 1,550 EUR per month. In addition, a research allowance of 100 EUR is usually granted. It is also possible to receive a family allowance of 155 EUR. Following a decision by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in summer 2023, a further increase in the funding amount by 100 euros is planned for October 2025.
The funding period is generally a maximum of three years. From October 2023, this funding commitment will be granted for the entire duration of the project. There is an option for a six-month extension. Parents and people affected by a chronic illness or disability can receive funding for up to 12 months longer. In exceptional cases - especially for parents - this funding can be extended to four years. This information does not apply to the offers for structured doctoral funding or to individual special programmes.
All programs are aimed at all Ph.D. candidates admitted in Germany, especially refugees and asylum seekers. Here you will find a short overview (PDF, GER).
