Completion Grant

in the Event of Particular Hardships

Since autumn 2012, the Graduate Academy has been offering a completion scholarship for cases of particular hardship. This funding line is intended to supplement the doctoral completion funding provided by the Equal Opportunities Office (Hochschulbüro für ChancenVielfalt) at Leibniz University Hannover, which relates to delays in completing a doctorate for family reasons.

The aim of both complementary funding programmes is to support young scientists whose doctoral studies have been delayed for family reasons or due to special hardship. Depending on the requirements, funding can be granted either in the form of a half-time position in accordance with TV-L 13 (only for family-related delays) or in the form of a scholarship. The maximum funding period is six months. The selection criteria depend on the reason for the delay in each case.

Enrolled Ph.D. candidates at Leibniz University Hannover are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted at any time. A prerequisite for applying is a prior consultation with the responsible staff members of the Equal Opportunities Office or the Graduate Academy.

Selection criteria depend on the respective reasons for delay.

The Vice President for Human Resources Development & Director of the Graduate Academy decides on funding based on the recommendation of a joint selection committee consisting of members of the Equal Opportunities Committee and the Board of the Graduate Academy.
