Practical strategies for moving into industry

Earning a Ph.D. often feels like conquering the academic summit - years of dedication, intellectual rigour and the sense of having become an expert. Stepping into industry can be a jarring shift though. The rules are different, the pace is faster and the markers of success may be far removed from publications and citations.

This seminar is designed for Ph.Ds. and postdocs who are preparing (or struggling) to transition into industry roles. You will confront the common illusions many researchers carry with them - about their readiness, their value and what companies actually need. More importantly, you will focus on how to reframe your academic strengths into assets that resonate in a business environment.

Topics:

  • False beliefs that hold Ph.Ds. back in industry transitions
  • Understanding industry expectations vs. academic training
  • How to assess your real value and communicate it effectively
  • Building a mind set for adaptability, collaboration and continuous growth
  • Navigating identity shifts and embracing a new professional narrative

This is not about „leaving academia behind“ but about evolving your skill set, broadening your perspective and stepping into industry with clarity and confidence.
